Aly Harte has been running her business as a professional artist since 2011. The business has grown organically around her family. She has found herself able to delve deep into the content behind our work – losing her father the week before her eighth birthday.
Aly writes, “Grief has stamped my life and is the underbelly of my art practice. Nonetheless, my personality is vibrant and I see the paintings that I make as a translation of loss and a simultaneous thirst for life”.
Each artwork is made in an expressive burst of energy and movement. Muted undertones imply the grief that never leaves a person when we walk through loss. Then there are gestures of neon and bright to indicate the hope and joy we can still experience in this beautiful daily dive called life.
Other influences in her paintings include the small holding where she grew up in the Irish countryside, the places her mother, her brother and she visited after her Dad died, and the gorgeous moments found in the everyday pattern as a family of five who love the great outdoors.
